  1. Hey Crystal, I am thinking of doing the Tongariro Circuit solo. I read your blog which was inspiring, any chance I could get any pointers about travelling solo as a female on this hike. Cheers 🙂

    • Sure, anything in particular you’d like to know? The only thing I really did safety wise that I wouldn’t have done with others anyway was taking along a locater beacon. Lots of sporting stores down that way rent them out. I think I paid about $15 for 3 days.

    Amazing stories and quite inspiring. Have never been that impassioned to leave NZ at the moment with so many adventures I have to tick off here, but your narrative may kindle a small campfire. I look forward to reading your future adventures. Stephen.

    • Hey thanks! My main pack is an Osprey Atmos 50 (it’s actually a small men’s pack but it was on sale, I think the Aura is the women’s version?). I have friends who have a lot of luck with Deuter as well but I find Osprey tends to fit me a bit better.
